William Burkett describes being sent to learn Russian in Monterey, California after graduating from basic training. He worked in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down and was also on a task force to recover U.S. aircraft shot down by the Soviet Union. He recounts finding the body of pilot John Dunham, taking his Naval Academy ring, and returning it to his family.
